San Ramon City Council Seeks Applications from District 2 to
Fill One Vacant Seat on the San Ramon City Council

The San Ramon City Council is accepting applications to appoint an applicant from District 2 to fill the remainder of an unexpired term on the City Council. The successful applicant would serve from time of appointment until the results of the November 8, 2022, General Municipal Election are certified by the City Council.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens over 18 years of age, a registered voter in District 2, and reside within District 2 in the City of San Ramon.  

The City Council is the elected policy-making body for the City of San Ramon. It is comprised of four Councilmembers elected by districts who serve four-year overlapping terms and a Mayor, elected at-large, who serves for a two-year term. The City Council serves as the Board of Directors of the San Ramon Public Financing Authority, the Geologic Hazard Abatement Districts, the Successor Agency, and the San Ramon Housing Authority.

City Council meetings are held twice each month on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays. Special and emergency meetings may also be held with minimal notice for more urgent items. In addition to preparing for and attending City Council meetings, Councilmembers also represent San Ramon on a variety of county and regional boards/commissions/ committees that meet regularly. They also attend numerous community functions and sometimes trainings which can be held during days, evenings, and/or weekends.

Selected applicants must attend interviews scheduled on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, with a time to be announced. Please see the appointment process schedule below.

 Appointment Process Schedule

December 28, 2020  - City Council applications are due online by 4:00pm on Monday, December 28, 2020 http://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/sanramon/Late applications will not be accepted. You will be notified that your application was received and if it meets the minimum qualifications.

January 4, 2021 - At a special meeting of the City Council up to eight (8) applicants will be selected and invited to a formal interview by the City Council on January 6, 2021.

January 6, 2021 - Formal interviews of applicants will be conducted by the City Council. This is the only interview date. All invited applicants must be available to attend during this public meeting. Following the interviews, the council will select a councilmember to fill the vacancy.

January 12, 2021 - The new councilmember will be sworn in at the City Council meeting.
