MUNICIPAL ELECTION - NOVEMBER 8, 2022

The three seats up for election in November 2022 include:

  • Mayor at-large (all voters Citywide)
  • Councilmember from District 2
  • Councilmember from District 4

Voters must be registered in the district for which there is a vacancy in order to cast a vote for a candidate of that district.

The City Council is comprised of four Councilmembers elected by districts who serve four-year overlapping terms and an elected Mayor who serves a two-year term.


General Information

Nomination Period

The nomination filing period is Monday, July 18, 2022 through Friday, August 12, 2022, 5:00 p.m.  Candidates are required to make an appointment with the City Clerk's Office to obtain and file nomination papers.

Extended Filing Period

The nomination filing period for Councilmember, District 4, has been extended to Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 5 p.m. pursuant to the California Elections Code.

Write-in Candidates Filing Period

A person who did not file during the regular filing period may file for office as a write-in candidate.Write-in candidates must also file the same forms required of other candidates,who have filed during the regular filing period. Write-in candidates are required to make an appointment with the City Clerk's Office to obtain and file nomination papers.

Write-In filing period begins September 12, 2022 and ends October 25, 2022.

Qualifications for Office 

  1. Be a U.S. citizen.
  2. Be a registered voter at the time the Declaration of Candidacy is issued.
  3. Must be registered in the political subdivision for which you are running.
  4. Not have been convicted of a felony involving accepting or giving, or offering to give, any bribe, the embezzlement of public money, extortion or theft of public money, perjury, or conspiracy to commit any of those crimes.
