Opportunities at the Alcosta Senior and Community Center:

Senior Nutrition Program Volunteer
The Alcosta Senior and Community Center provides lunch service Monday-Friday from 11am-1pm for senior adults in the community. We are looking for adults who can make a commitment of at least 4 months, to assist with minor preparation, serving and clean-up. Volunteer just one day per week or more!
Welcome Desk Volunteer
Do you like working with people? Are you looking for ways to use your organizational and interpersonal skills? The Alcosta Senior and Community Center is looking for Welcome Desk volunteers to support administrative and clerical functions.


  • Provide administrative support to City employees to ensure all visitors are made to feel welcome by providing answers to questions they may have.
  • Provide a tour of the facility and any appropriate documents (Encore! newsletter, activity guide, etc).
  • “Sell” the Center to any potential new members.
  • Answer the telephone, take messages and transfer calls
  • Represent the City in a positive manner.


  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Responsible and organized with the ability to multi-task.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, approachable.
  • Commitment and strong desire to help others and support the efforts of the Alcosta Senior and Community Center.
  • Possess personal, educational or professional skills suitable to the needs of the position


  • A 4 month minimum commitment is required.
  • Volunteer shifts are on-site at the Alcosta Senior and Community Center during business hours Monday through Friday
  • Morning shifts are 8:15am to 12:00pm
  • Afternoon shifts are 12:00pm to 3:00pm
