On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, San Ramon neighborhoods are invited to take part in National Night Out. Many neighborhood groups will host events such as block parties, potlucks, and ice cream socials. Police and other City representatives will visit registered neighborhoods throughout the evening to support and connect with the community.

Applications are open for the San Ramon Police Department's Fall 2025 Community Academy. This free, 14-week class combines lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities covering topics such as patrol, investigations, traffic stops, DUI enforcement, and legal authority. On June 24, 2025, Sunset Development filed a Preliminary Housing Development application and rescinded their applications to amend the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance for The Orchards.

San Ramon’s Community Planning Academy returns this fall! This free 4-week class will be held at City Hall on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. beginning September 8, offering an overview of why cities plan, how planning shapes the community, and the land use planning process. Learn more and apply by August 1.

Sunset Development Company has submitted formal applications for The Orchards Development Project (formerly Chevron Park). The applications are currently under review by the City for completeness. Once the applications are deemed complete, a public review process will begin. There will be multiple opportunities for Public Comment throughout the public review process.

At the November 12, 2024 City Council meeting, the City Council adopted Objective Design and Development Standards for the Review of Qualifying Multi-Family and Residential Mixed-Use Developments (ODDS). Objective standards allow applicants to know what City design and development criteria apply to their project before they begin their design.

On April 24, Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA), in partnership with Beep, Inc., and Bishop Ranch and with support from the City of San Ramon, launched the first autonomous shuttle program open to the public in the Bay Area.

On February 27, 2023, the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) found the City of San Ramon’s revised Adopted 2023–2031 Housing Element to be in substantial compliance with State Housing Element Law.

At the City Council meeting on January 30, 2023, the City Council adopted the 2023–2031 Housing Element of the General Plan 2040. Updates to the rest of the General Plan 2040 and Climate Action Plan will be reviewed at future public meetings.
