Police Explorers
The Explorer Scout Program is designed for high school aged students who have an interest in law enforcement as a career.
The goals of Exploring are to educate and involve youth in police operations, to interest them in possible law enforcement careers, and to build mutual understanding between young people and law enforcement officers. Through involvement with the San Ramon Police Department, members are given an awareness of the challenges and complexities facing police services.
Our Explorers not only get to see how a police department works from the inside, but they also directly support us by assisting with numerous events throughout the year. Several of our Explorers have gone on to successful careers in law enforcement. Those who have chosen different careers have gained not only invaluable experience but also an appreciation for the challenges that are faced by modern law enforcement agencies.
Applicants for the Explorer Program Must Meet the Following Criteria:
- Be at least 14 to 17 years of age and attend school within the San Ramon Valley School District
- Be of good moral character and have no felony convictions
- Must be attending school and maintaining at least a 2.0 GPA
- Applicant must be free from any physical or mental disabilities that may place themselves or a fellow Explorer or police employee in danger during an assignment or detail.
