SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

APPLICATION GUIDELINES & INFORMATION

The City of San Ramon Parks & Community Services Department, with support from San Ramon Senior Center Foundation, and generous customers who donate during registration, have developed a scholarship program for San Ramon Senior’s over the age of 55.  The Senior Scholarship can only be used on registration and drop- in programs or classes.  Participants who meet the qualifications and income requirements, as well as contributing a minimum of 25% towards each registration fee, are eligible to apply.  If an individual qualifies for a scholarship, up to 75% of the cost of the program may be funded with a maximum of $100 of funding per individual per fiscal year. (July – June).  All applications must be submitted in advance at least 2-4 weeks prior to the start of the program.  


Step 1: See Whether You Qualify:

Eligibility Criteria:

1.       All interested individuals must complete the attached application form. Incomplete forms will not be processed. 

 2.       Copies of the following are REQUIRED to qualify for the program:

  Proof of residency (REQUIRED) - Copy of utility bill 

AND

  Proof of enrollment in one of the following:

Medi-Cal/Medicaid

SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)

Subsidized Housing Voucher (Section 8)

California LifeLine Program

 

A completed customer registration form with co-payment.

 

3.       Only San Ramon residents, 55 years and older, are eligible to apply.

4.       Financial assistance is to be used for registration classes and programs, and does not include supplies, materials, or equipment.

6. It is intended that this assistance be temporary. Participants may be required to pay full or partial costs.

7. The participant must provide two (2) to four (4) weeks to process the application prior to the start date of the class/activity.

8. Fee assistance is awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

9. The Scholarship Liaison will notify you within two (2) weeks whether your application is approved or denied.

10. Any past due balances must be brought current before a financial assistance application is considered.

11. Applicants who falsify information or do not attend class regularly will be ineligible for financial assistance. If there are extenuating circumstances, please call (925) 973-3226.

12. All applications are kept confidential.

13. Decisions regarding financial assistance are final.

If the request is approved, all required documentation must be submitted with payment and a completed registration form submitted by the required deadline date (Two to four weeks prior to the class/activity start date) to the Attention of: Stacy Munsell, San Ramon Parks and Community Services Department, 12501 Alcosta Blvd.  San Ramon, CA 94583.
