The City of San Ramon maintains an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), which includes detailed protocols for earthquake response, recovery, and coordination with regional partners.
Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
The City’s EOC is equipped and located at the new Public Safety Complex, located at 2401 Crow Canyon Road. All City staff are designated disaster service workers who will respond in the event of an emergency.
Infrastructure Resilience
Public facilities and critical infrastructure are regularly assessed for seismic safety.
Community Outreach & Education
The City partners with the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District to train residents as CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and offers public workshops, preparedness guides, and emergency alert sign-ups to help residents stay informed and ready.
Interagency Coordination
San Ramon works closely with Contra Costa County, Cal OES, and local utilities to ensure a coordinated response and access to mutual aid resources during and after an earthquake.
Real-Time Communication
In the event of an earthquake, the City will use multiple channels—including social media, the City website, and emergency alert systems—to provide timely updates and safety information to the public. Residents can find more information on emergency preparedness communications here.
