What is Camp Central?
Camp Central is a flexible full or half day summer program that allows families to select camps each week that interest them. Participants start their day being greeted by enthusiastic camp leaders at one central location. Then they are escorted to the morning camp of their choice, picked up by leaders for lunch and the escorted to their afternoon camps. At the end of the day, all participants are gathered to finish the day with fun activities just in time to be picked up at the same location!

  • Select the whole package or just the parts of the day you need.
  • Just interested in LEGO Engineering, basketball, or Mad Science Camp? Great!
  • Need noon care so your child can attend morning and afternoon camps? No problem!
  • Register for as much or as little as your family needs.

For a full list of summer camps offered through Camp Central, see the list in the Summer Schedule. Camp Central is offered at Central Park and Dougherty Station and is available for campers 4-12 years old.

I need some help registering for Extended Care online.
There are several potential reasons why you may have problems registering for Extended Care.

First, you may only register for Extended Care after you have registered for the Specialty Camp or Adventure Club during the same week. Register for the Specialty Camp or Adventure Club first, and then you will be able to register for the Extended Care before or after the program.

Second, you may only register for Extended Care and the Specialty Camp or Adventure Club that are connected. For example, you may only sign up for Morning and Lunch Extended Care after you have registered for a morning Specialty Camp or Afternoon and Lunch Extended care after you have registered for an afternoon Specialty Camp or Adventure Club.

Third, you may only register for Extended Care the same week as the Specialty Camp or Adventure Club. This prevents any confusion of signing up for Extended Care on a different week as the Specialty Camp or Adventure Club.

If you have additional problems or questions with registration please call the San Ramon Community Center at 925-973-3200.

How and when do I need to turn in the Participant Profile?
The Participant Profile will be completed during the registration process. If you register online you will find a pop-up window that will ask you a series of questions. Please respond to each of the questions thoroughly as the information is important and will be used throughout the summer for your camper. If you register in person, mail, fax or drop off your registration form, please complete a paper version and submit with your registration form. This will allow the staff to enter the information and not delay your camper’s registration.

A paper version of the Participant Profile can be downloaded from our website to use as a guide for registration.

To ensure the safety of all campers we require identification checks when releasing campers. On the Participant Profile there is a place for authorized adults which are authorized to pick up campers. We require anyone who picks up a camper to be on this authorized list and provide a photo ID. If an adult comes to pick up a child that is not on this list, our staff will not release them. You will be emailed a confirmation sheet with information on the camp and what to bring. This generally includes a water bottle, sunscreen and a healthy snack. If your camper is staying during the Noon Extended Care then they should also bring a lunch. If there are other items the camper needs to bring (i.e. special clothing, equipment, etc.) these will also be listed on the confirmation sheet. You can also find what to bring to camp. Please label all items that belong to your camper.

What happens when it gets too hot outside? What do you do?
When the temperature rises above 100 degrees we take extra precautions to ensure the safety of the campers. We take frequent water breaks in the shade and adjust the amount of activity that campers will participate in under the sun. In the event of extreme heat we may relocate the camp or change activities to ensure the campers safety. Our staff is trained to recognize and treat heat exhaustion should it occur at any of our camps.

What is your discipline process?
The City of San Ramon has a Code of Conduct we follow in all instances of our programs.

Code of Conduct
The City of San Ramon believes all participants and spectators have a right to a positive, safe and enjoyable experience while participating in programs and events offered through the Parks and Community Services Department. It is therefore expected that everyone treats people and facilities with respect and abides by all City and Department policies, rules and guidelines. The City of San Ramon reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for failure to abide by these guidelines.

1. The safety and security of all participants, staff, contractors and volunteers is paramount.
2. All participants, staff and volunteers will be treated with courtesy, respect, dignity and in an equitable and fair manner.
3. Do not discriminate against any participant, staff, or volunteer with regards to disability, race, color, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion or age. Everyone should feel included.
4. Treat facilities and parkland with respect and care, following all program, City and Department policies, rules and guidelines.

Process for Unacceptable Behavior
A progressive approach is utilized for dealing with unacceptable behavior. This process provides a framework to guide decision-making in upholding the Code of Conduct. The severity of the recommended action is determined by a number of factors to include age, presence of a disability, and the safety of participants, the public and city property. The guiding principles are to 1) Remove safety threats immediately; if at any point action involves public safety or is criminal in nature, 911 should be called immediately; 2) redirect unacceptable behavior to acceptable behavior to allow full participation in programs and activities; and 3) engage the parents and/or caregivers in the process as appropriate.
