Citizen’s Planning Academy

The Citizen’s Planning Academy is a six week course designed to educate and engage residents in the City’s planning process and demonstrate how planning shapes our community. The course objective is to assist participants in becoming more familiar with the City of San Ramon planning process and to encourage future participation.

Sessions are designed to include discussion, presentations, Q&A, and a City tour. Presenters/speakers include City staff, local architects, planning professionals, and Planning Commissioners.

Except for one Saturday morning tour, classes will take place on six consecutive Monday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm.  The course concludes with a Mock Planning Commission Meeting for a theoretical project, where the participants are assigned roles as the Planning Commission, developers, and residents. The Citizen’s Planning Academy members will be recognized before the San Ramon City Council.

Applications due:  Friday, August 2, 2019. San Ramon residents over the age of 18 years are invited to apply, with the class limited to 20 participants.  Residents will be notified of acceptance by mid-August.
