2019 Pavement Management Projects

During the summer of 2019, the City completed the largest amount of pavement repair work ever completed in one maintenance cycle. The 2019 Pavement Management and Crow Canyon Road Rehabilitation projects treated a total of over 6.5 million square feet of the City’s streets. The City also installed its first rubberized cape seal treatment. This method utilizes a rubberized asphalt and aggregates combined with an asphalt slurry to provide a new riding surface to old roads. These projects will extend the life of the streets in a cost-effective manner and were made possible by Measure J funding, the passage of SB-1, the City’s refuse Vehicle Impact Fee and Gas Taxes. In addition to paving the streets, the City improved the bike lanes in many areas by widening them, adding buffer lanes and/or adding high visibility conflict zone markings.
