General Plan Update: Virtual Community Workshop
Thursday, September 9 at 7 p.m.

Plan San Ramon

The City of San Ramon invites you to attend a virtual Community Engagement Workshop on the update to the General Plan, Housing Element, and Climate Action Plan scheduled for Thursday, September 9 at 7:00 p.m. These three guiding documents serve as the City’s long-term plan for land use, housing, and climate policies, and your input is needed on how you envision San Ramon evolving over the next two decades.

In Summer 2021, the City kicked off updates to the General Plan, Housing Element, and Climate Action Plan, which are scheduled to take two years to complete. The Planning Services Division will be hosting the workshop, where an introduction to the Project will be provided and community members can provide feedback on the future of San Ramon.

The full meeting agenda with instructions to view or participate in the TELECONFERENCE MEETING is available here.

If you are unable to attend, you can also submit your comments or questions in writing via email at planning@sanramon.ca.gov or via mail to:

City of San Ramon

Attn: Planning Services
7000 Bollinger Canyon Road
San Ramon, CA 94583

If you have any questions regarding this project or the public workshop, please contact Cindy Yee, Senior Planner at (925) 973-2560.

Free Compost Giveaway for San Ramon Residents
Saturday, September 18, 8 a.m. – noon

Compost Giveaway

Compost is organic material that can be added to soil to help plants grow.

Mixing compost into your soil:

  • Adds valuable nutrients to your soil, acting as a natural slow release fertilizer for plants and microbes
  • Reduces the need for pesticides and synthetic fertilizers
  • Enriches soil and promotes healthy plant growth (more fruit and vegetables – tastier, too!)
  • Helps to regulate and neutralize the acid and alkaline levels in your soil
  • Saves water: nutrient rich soil requires less irrigation
  • Healthy root growth in your garden means less erosion
  • Plants grown in compost-amended soil tend to be more resilient to diseases, pests, and fungi

Stop by Forest Home Farms (19553 San Ramon Valley Blvd) on Saturday, September 18 between 8 a.m. and noon for a compost giveaway! Limit 1 cubic foot bag per car, available while supplies last. Proof of San Ramon residency is required.

COVID-19: Updated Mass Quarantine Order for Contra Costa Residents

Contra Costa Health Services has updated the county’s Mass Quarantine Order, and Contra Costa residents exposed to someone with COVID-19 can now narrow down the number of days they must spend in quarantine by testing for the virus at the right time.

Close contacts of persons diagnosed with COVID-19 are required to quarantine themselves, with exceptions for certain persons fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine, certain essential workers in critical infrastructure sectors, and students in K-12 school settings under specified circumstances.

This updated Health Order provides an additional exception, allowing persons who are required to quarantine to end the quarantine period after day 7 instead of after day 10 if they are asymptomatic and test negative for the COVID-19 virus on or after the sixth day after the last date of exposure, consistent with guidance issued by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
