LIVESCAN FINGERPRINTING

livescan machineNo more messy fingerprint ink.  The City of San Ramon provides computerized Livescan Fingerprinting for anyone who needs to be fingerprinted. The old method of inked fingerprint cards is now a thing of the past. The Livescan system digitally captures your fingerprints, and through a high speed computer line, sends the fingerprints electronically to the State Department of Justice in Sacramento. Please click here for more information of fingerprinting fees.

Before the Livescan systems were available, employers required to have their employees fingerprinted would have to wait approximately three to four months for a clearance letter to arrive via U.S. Mail. In most cases, that employee would begin working pending a response from the State. With the Livescan System, a clearance letter can be returned directly to the employer within one week via e-mail. This is extremely beneficial to us as a community.

You must have an ORI number from the Department of Justice to have your fingerprints taken. Call the Department of Justice Livescan Unit at (916) 227-3832 for an ORI number, then set up a fingerprint appointment with us by calling 973-2700.
