The 14th Annual Art in the Park has Found a New Home: San Ramon’s Central Park. This Fine Arts festival takes place on October 6 & 7 from 10:00 to 5:00 each day. The expanded event will feature 70 booths of fine art, live music, food & wine and childrens’ activities. A judged art show will be in the Fountain Room of the Community Center. A new feature will be professional Chalk Artists showing their talents. Central Park is located at Alcosta Blvd and Bollinger Canyon Road, ¾ mile East of Hwy 680. Admission to the event is free.
Fine Art Booths will include painters in all media, clay, fine jewelry, art photography, textiles, sculpture and more. Artists from around the Bay Area and Northern California will take part. Many favorites will return to Art in the Park, with over 20 new participants. The artists will be happy to talk to you about their techniques and experiences and many will be demonstrating.
The “Inside Art Show”, in the Fountain Room of the Community Center, is a judged exhibition of artwork and is open to all artists in the Bay Area. There will be Live Music both days. Monte Vista High Jazz Group, Gary Chulla Trio, Cal High Jazz Band, Diablo Dixie Devils and San Ramon Valley High School Jazz Band will play.
Childrens’ Activities: Art Tables will be located near the tennis courts where kids are invited to do a painting or a project to take home. Materials and supplies are free of charge, compliments of ADAS. Returning to assist again for several years running are the mothers and daughters of the National Charity League. The San Ramon Library will have a table in the childrens’ area and a bubble station will be supplied by Valley Parent Preschool. A kids’ train will take children for rides around the sports fields. It is supplied by the Museum of the San Ramon Valley.
Sponsored by the Alamo Danville Artists’ Society (ADAS), the San Ramon Arts Foundation and the City of San Ramon, Art in the Park is a fund raiser for San Ramon art programs and Art in the Schools of the San Ramon Valley School District. Over $125,000 has been raised over the years by ADAS for grants which go directly to the Elementary and Middle School art programs in the San Ramon Valley School District.
