THE ENGINEERING SERVICES IS
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
PUBLIC STREET AND ROADWAY DESIGN
AND CONSTRUCTION
This involves new road construction
as well as street modification and improvements such as median
landscaping. Streets that need to be repaired and repaved are
identified and budgeted for annual pavement management.
CITY'S CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
This includes the project
management, planning, design and construction engineering of Capital
Improvement Projects.
MONITORING AND INSPECTING
CONSTRUCTION BY RESIDENTS AND CONTRACTORS:
The Engineering Services Inspection
Division inspects projects being constructed by residents,
utilities, and contractors. This includes all work five feet outside
the building and within the public right of way.
REVIEWING DEVELOPMENT PROPOSALS AND
PERMIT APPLICATIONS
This division is responsible for
engineering review and issuance of site development and grading
permits for private development projects. We also review, research,
process and inspect encroachment permits.
FLOOD HAZARD AREA INFORMATION
Flood hazard information is
obtained and given to residents and realtors. Residents who are in
flood zone areas are encouraged to obtain flood insurance. We also
provide this information to FEMA.
MANAGING THE CITY OF SAN RAMON'S
STORMWATER POLLUTION PREVENTION PROGRAM
Engineering Services is responsible
for the administration and implementation of the federally mandated
Stormwater program. This includes participating in Contra Costa
Cities, Flood Control District, and County group efforts. It
Develops and implements Best Management Practices, coordinates
stormwater activities between various City departments, and prepares
the annual report to the Regional Water Quality Control Board.
MANAGING THE CITY OF SAN RAMON'S
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM (GIS) PROGRAM
This division is responsible for
managing and coordinating the City's GIS Enterprise Server and
application developments. These applications bring together:
mapped infrastructure, natural features and land development changes
with informational records for display, query and analysis, to
support many of the City's business functions. The division
also provides appropriate training to all City departments, for the
use of this information.
