Why Should I come to the San Ramon Senior Center?

• There are many different groups to join
• I can travel on day trips, getaways, and/or longer vacations
• I have opportunities to volunteer at the Center
• I can use the computer lab daily for a minimal fee
• I can take low-cost computer classes or work with a volunteer computer docent
• I can spend time in one of the lounges - places to read, do puzzles, play games or enjoy the camaraderie of the Senior Center community.
• I can ride the Center's van to the Senior Center for only $2.00 each way.
• I can receive a copy of the Encore, the Senior Center's monthly newsletter.
• I can receive free blood pressure screenings.
• I can receive free housing information.
• I can get free health screenings and information at the Annual Health & Wellness Resource Fair
• I can get free help with my taxes during tax time (February - April) by appointment.
• I can shop for handmade treasures made by the Boutique group
• I can participate in fitness classes
• I can enjoy a nutritious lunch Tuesday - Friday for only $2

Need Transportation to the Senior Center?    
Over 3000 van trips were completed last year to transport members to the Center. The Senior Center Express Van picks people who otherwise would be sitting at home. Many older people can no longer drive and depend on the Center’s van to get them out of the house.

The van also takes people to shopping on Thursday mornings. It is the lifeline for some people to the outside world. If you would like more information on our van transportation please call the Senior Center at (925) 973-3250.

Transportation via the San Ramon Senior Center Express Van (Door to Door service)
* The van leaves the Center at 8:30 am to begin pick-ups Tuesday-Friday.
* The van departs from the Center at 3:00 pm Tuesday & Thursday and between 1:00-1:30pm on Wednesdays & Fridays. No van service on Mondays.
* The cost $2.00 per resident, each way/$1 each way with Encore! Membership

Shopping Shuttle:
The San Ramon Senior Express Van provides service to local grocery and drug stores. This shuttle will run on Thursdays only. The service will begin at 10:00am with pick ups at the Senior Center, Sunny Glenn, Villa San Ramon and Valley Vista Apartments. The shuttle will return to your original pick up point by noon. You must sign up 24 hours in advance. Cost is $2.00 round trip.

Volunteer Services

Volunteers provide leadership for many activities and contribute 18,000 hours of support during the year. Applications & Job Descriptions are available at the Senior Center front desk for these and other volunteer opportunities:

• Kitchen

Tutors Wanted!
The San Ramon Senior Scholar Program is looking for individuals to tutor elementary, and junior high students. This is a volunteer program and has been in existence for many years. Senior tutors are paired up with students who need assistance with math, english and reading. One hour per week is all that is required. No teaching experience is needed.
