chinese bilingual after school enrichment program

This is an all year-round Chinese After-School enrichment program designed for students in elementary school. Our center opens daily immediately after school until 6:30pm. After a day of learning in school, students need to be in a place that provides them with a fun, creative and stimulating learning environment. Our professionally designed bilingual enrichment program is engaging and exciting across multiple subjects such as Chinese, English, Math, and Public Speaking. Students maximize learning through hands-on projects and activities such as games, art & crafts and interesting lab experiments.

The goal of this program is to:
- help students develop and extend their language skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills through immersive experiences.
- learn the wonderful world of math through fun games and challenging activities that encourage deep thinking
- embrace the art of learning with confidence and enthusiasm that will last them a lifetime.

Public Speaking - Introduction to Speech Writing
This is an extremely useful class that teaches young students how to write a good speech in six easy steps, which are: 1) Understand why and who 2) Label the sections of the speech 3) Decide the opening and the closing 4) Create the body of the speech 5) Make it interesting 6) Preparing for critical thinking and spontaneous changes. Additionally, they learn the importance of writing like they talk, making it personal. With topics of their interests and our encouragement to use props, stories, jokes, and pictures, we make learning speech writing easy and exciting. No Class 3/2.

Public Speaking - Advanced Debates and Public Speaking
This is an excellent course to that builds upon the presentation and foundational debate skills in preparation of joining the competitive Debate or Speech Teams of their schools. This class is a combo course of Advanced Public Speaking and Speech Writing and Debates. Each student will learn to write a well-structured and engaging speech, along with different styles such as narrative, descriptive, cause and effect, compare and contrast, process analysis, and persuasive. In debate, students will argue on a variety of their age appropriate topics in various formats. No Class 3/2.

Berkeley Chess
Chess is fun and can be learned quickly and easily. Studies have found that chess helps improve test results in reading, science, and math, and produces growth in critical cognitive skills. Beyond academia, chess influences social behavior including self-esteem, respect for others, patience, and good sportsmanship. And did we mention: it's FUN! Berkeley Chess School has been teaching State Chess Champions since 1982.

Appreciating Writing
Students will learn the art of writing essays , stories, and poems. In addition to planning and outlining their work, they will work on using proper diction or word choice. They will also be guided in writing good topic sentences and powerful conclusions . Academic writing topics will correspond to the common core while instructor will guide students interested in publishing while teaching creative writing topics. No Class 3/1.
