The After School Enrichment classes are conveniently timed so students can attend immediately after school. Students who are attending an After School Enrichment (ASE) class should go to their ASE class location directly after school.

If your child attends the Growing Room, please send your child directly to the class or have an authorized adult sign the child out and bring them to the class. Some instructors are able to pick–up from the Growing Room by request, please see the individual course descriptions for availability. All instructors will bring children to the Growing Room at the end of class if requested.

creative writing
Students will learn Lekha's time-tested methods to overcome writer's block while writing short stories, poems, and short skits. Students will be introduced to a variety of fiction and nonfiction genres. They will progress into genre writing and learn how each genre has its own set of particular rules that drives character creation, setting, and plot.

LEGO ENGINEERINg: MINECRAFT BUILD USING LEGO
Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO®! Build a motorized walking Creeper, a terrifying Ghast, and a motorized Minecart! This project-based camp, designed by Play-Well instructors, combines the basic format of our core engineering-themed programs based on the world of Minecraft. Students will explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects. Students will have a blast, even without any prior experience with Minecraft or LEGO.

FUN WITH AEROSPACE ENGINEERING
Have fun building hands-on projects that fly! Students will engage in projects such as building a Rocket or a Helicopter, and will learn the science behind flight, aerodynamics, and propulsion. Students take home completed projects to show off to parents and siblings! This fun class exposes students to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), the scientific method, planning, prioritization, time management, and organization. Students will gain a better understanding for how things fly and stay afloat in the sky, and will learn how to break down and analyze problems. $35 materials fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

PUBLIC SPEAKINg: SPEAKING WITH CONFIDENCE (PS 201)
This class focuses on teaching delivery and presentation skills to the students. Students learn how to manage public speaking anxiety, present themselves with confidence, and connect with their audience through effective body language. It improves their confidence in public speaking and communication skills. They learn different approaches of preparing for a speech example speaking from notes or from memory. The goal of this course is by t the end of the session a student should be able to stand tall and speak confidently and fluently in front of a large group for at least 2 minutes. This course teaches young students the essentials of building confidence in public speaking. The participants learn how to stand tall and speak confidently in front of a large group. They begin to understand the concepts and importance of body language, bringing variation in speed and tone. The students learn the concept of public speaking using fun concepts like show and tell, storytelling, and poem recitals among others. MAD SCIENCe: PHENOMENAL PHYSICS
Gravity… Inertia… Centripetal Force… who could ever imagine that an introduction to physics could be so much fun? We'll experience these awesome forces, learn about the atoms and molecules and build some cool devices! Use a vortex generator to create air pockets with a punch, and levitate ping-pong balls in defiance of gravity. Learn how combinations of shapes like triangles, cylinders, and arches make sturdy homes, bridges, and skyscrapers. And then explore the science of flight. Take home something at the end of each class such as a skyhawk plane, silly putty, and a drag racer.

Chess is fun and can be learned quickly and easily. Studies have found that chess helps improve test results in reading, science, and math, and produces growth in critical cognitive skills. Beyond academia, chess influences social behavior including self esteem, respect for others, patience, and good sportsmanship. And did we mention: it's FUN! electrical engineering: electrified
During the Electrical Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine basic electronics and circuits. Students experiment with Snap Circuits® to discover the capabilities of major electronic components. In addition, students build their own flashlights and explore the world of magnetic energy by building their own Magnetic Levitation vehicle. Their is a $35 supply fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

skyhawks multi-sport
The class is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of sports in one setting. Each week participants will learn the rules and essentials of a different sport through skill-based games and scrimmages. These sports include soccer, baseball, basketball, flag football, golf, tennis, track & field and capture the flag. At the end your program your child will come away with new skills, new friends and a passion for sports! All equipment is provided. Participant -to-coach ratio is approximately 10:1.
